Indigobush Amorpha (Amorpha fruticosa) (PEA FAMILY)

Indigobush amorpha is a tall, bushy, perennial shrub, sparsely pubescent to glabrous, which grows up to 12 ft in height. The alternate leaves are pinnately compound with 11 to 25 leaflets 3/4-1 1/2 in. long. The inflorescence consists of 2 to several racemes 2-5 in. long. The flower is represented by a single blue to violet petal with conspicuous yellow to yellowish-orange anthers. The fruit is a glandular-dotted legume 1/4-3/8 in. long and 1/8 in. wide with 2 seeds.
