Narrowleaf Bluets (Hedyotis nigricans)

Narrowleaf Bluets Hedyotis nigricans (Lam.) Fosb. (BEDSTRAW FAMILY) Narrowleaf bluets is an erect perennial 6-18 in. tall with numerous stems arising from a single base. The stems are glabrous or somewhat pubescent below. The opposite leaves are linear and sessile, with small axillary leaves in a cluster giving the appearance of a whorled arrangement. The inflorescence is a crowded panicle of small white (sometimes pink-tinged) salverform flowers of 4 fused petals. The fruit is an obovoid capsule.
