Habit: 		Perennials, somewhat tufted.
Culms: 		Erect or spreading, usually not rooting at the nodes, 15-60 cm. tall.
Blades: 	Flat, 1-4 mm. wide.
Sheaths: 	The upper long.
Ligule: 	Membranous.
Inflorescence: 	Slender, spikelike panicle, 2-7 cm. long, about 4 mm. wide.
Spikelets: 	2-mm. long, 1-flowered, flower perfect, compressed, disarticulating beneath the glumes,
		falling from the axis entire.
Glumes: 	Compressed-keeled, somewhat united at the base.
Lemmas: 	Broad, 5-nerved, nearly equal in length, their margins usually more or less united at the base,
		with a dorsal awn from below the middle, scarcely exerted.
Palea: 		None.
Stamens: 	Anthers about 1 mm. long.
Habitat: 	In water and wet places.
Kansas Range:	Shawnee county.
Use: 		Palatable forage grass, but not abundant.
